Forum Title: Should I just STOP doing estimates?
Here's the problem. My schedule is booked solid for 4 months. I did five new estimates last month. All were great referrals, and all said up front they wouldn't mind waiting for the job since I came so highly recommended. Upon following up with them this week. They all said they went with another painter who could start sooner. Naturally people are going to get a few estimates, and of course they will easily find someone who can start sooner. This was a huge waste of time - especially during a busy work schedule. So what should I do?

My $0.02: try to ascertain whether it's you that they want or if you're one of several highly recommended outfits that they are considering. At this point, we don't get involved in the latter.
