Forum Title: Painting open ceiling
Hello, I am a contractor in Ontario Canada. I have been asked to prime and apply fire coating to open joist ceiling. I have a ton of estimating manuals, but I have not been able to find production rates. Has anyone done this type of painting? Did you record production times? Waste factors? Part of my issue is I need to apply the fire coating to the crossbraces including the top. It is a 120 year old building, so I want to hit with gladden/ ppg jammer. And then with fire paint. Any thoughts?

Take the square footage, figure out how much material your gonna use, figure out how much time it'll take you, add the numbers, plus a little extra and boom there you go. When I've had to apply fire coatings we didn't prime. We put the fire coating on, then top coated.
